My research interests focus on the intersection of climate politics, gender politics and violence.  Drawing on my significant professional experience of living and working in both the Middle East/North Africa and South Asia regions, much of my work as a comparative political scientists focusses geographically on those areas.

I returned to academia after having spent a decade developing a career in the international aid sector, with a focus on peacebuilding and conflict-affected states.  Throughout this time I lived and worked in contexts as diverse as Palestine, Libya, Afghanistan and Nepal and managed complex multifaceted projects, including multi-million dollar budgets.  I believe this experience left me well placed for a return to academia, helping me to build the skills, case knowledge and networks of contacts to be a more effective researcher.

As a peace scholar and a comparative political scientist I am excited to engage in innovative, empirical research which serves to better understand systems of direct and indirect violence.  I focus on the climate crisis not only as a driver various forms of political violence, but also due to the direct impacts on issues such as migration, labour markets and food security that will necessarily impact prospects for positive peace.
